Abstract

In the article, the authoress presents the results of a secondary analysis of the data acquired during research on the meanings of bottom-up cultural initiatives. The study showed that cultural education is an important part of these initiatives. In the article the authoress answers the question of what form bottom-up cultural education takes outside traditional and commercial cultural and educational institutions. Assuming the orientation on goals and aspects of cultural education as categories of analysis. The authoress shows that it can have four dimensions: education for a culture focused on individual goals; education through a culture focused on individual goals; education to a culture focused on supra-individual goals. These dimensions are not alternative, in particular initiatives they are present to a different degree. Therefore, cultural education carried out bottom-up presents a varied face and takes different shapes and not only approaches oriented towards individual or supra-individual goals are revealed, but also those in which both these goals orientations interact with each other.
