Abstract

The paper presents results of the secondary analysis of a part of data collected within the project Initiative with the participation of the 50+ and the development of social capital in the Lubus-kie province – diagnosis and evaluation. The aim of research, based on the social fenomenology of Alfred Schütz, was to reconstruct, the way in which the educators, who realize cultural education with mature adults, treat the question of sharing the responsibility for educational process. Authoress described four approaches to this issue, represented by interviewed educators: putting limits; giving possibilities; deploying to take responsibility; keeping divisions. In the summary, these approaches were related to the theoretical context: models of educational work with adults of Mieczysław Malewski and concept of participant orientation of Hans Tietgens. The authoress also pointed out that for the way in which the educators treat the question of sharing the responsibility for education important is the understanding of cultural education and its aims. Cultural education narrowly understood, based primarily on artistic activity, that aims are oriented towards the effect of work in form of an artistic product, promotes the attribution of responsibility to the educator. Cultural education, that aims relate first of all to the process of changes taking place during the cultural activities in individuals and their relationships, seems to provide greater opportunity for sharing responsibility with participants of education.
